At almost 10:30am Sunday, the police were notified by 911 operators of a shooting at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek Wisconsin. Not the same modus operandi as the Batman Shooter copy cats, but yet another act of domestic terror that leaves the public wondering when there will be an end to the violence, and if anyone is really safe.

Yahoo News reported a first reaction from President Obama after being notified of the tragedy:

At this difficult time, the people of Oak Creek must know that the American people have them in our thoughts and prayers, and our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who were killed and wounded. My administration will provide whatever support is necessary to the officials who are responding to this tragic shooting and moving forward with an investigation. As we mourn this loss which took place at a house of worship, we are reminded how much our country has been enriched by Sikhs, who are a part of our broader American family.

It’s unclear if the shooter specifically targeted this temple, or if it were simply a random act. The gunman was shot dead at the scene by police, but not after he managed to critically injure an office in the process.
