Luxembourg City, Luxembourg – Skype, a peer-to-peer Internet telephony service has finally closed the deal with the veteran and leading provider of operating software Microsoft for a huge amount of $8.5 Billion. The acquisition is one of the biggest ever made by Microsoft and it surpasses the first offering which is $7 Billion.

Its a done deal and Skype will now be a part of the Microsoft Business Division and its current CEO will be the President of the Microsoft Skype Division and will be directly reporting under Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer.

Most critics are still skeptics that the $8.5 Billion paid in cash is just too high but some critics claims that the amount just make sense for telecommunications will gave way to Microsoft’s penetrating the Mobile industry through its Windows Mobile.

Currently, Skype supports multiple platform such as Android, Apple and Blackberry but Microsoft promised that they will continue to invest in and support Skype clients on non-Microsoft platforms
