A blow to the so called alliance with Pakistan, many are now suggesting that bin Laden’s whereabouts were known to Pakistani intelligence. Should this prove true, it would drastically reshape the relationship between the United States and Pakistan.

The implications are unsettling here as well. Did bin Laden and his followers have significant influence over the Pakistani government? Did this influence protect them for the last several years?

These facts remain unclear, but the potential cooperation, if not collaboration is unsettling. After all, Pakistan has nuclear technology.

The demands of the people for freedom and democracy in the Middle East have been effective in invoking change, but it’s still uncertain if it will have long lasting benefit. When was the last time so many countries in a given region were on the cusp of revolution.

Obama acted in Libya, but what is the plan if Pakistan becomes unstable? This is perhaps the growing concern going forward.
